retired.
i was once
told of a man
who thought he could make a difference
in the world.
but then he grew up.
and he realized
that he did not wish
for that kind of
responsibility. that
it was too much, for one man.
so he laid down
his mask and his cape,
and put on his suit and tie
and his brand new mask,
and he got in his flashy
new car,
and he knew he couldn't make
any difference at all.
but he put his old mask
and his old cape
in a box,
where they gathered
dust and mould,
and he went to sleep,
and dreamt of his better days,
and he knew he had made a difference.
